Cicada Killer Wasps

Question: We have rug junipers going along the side of the hill on our sidewalk. We have been of some sort living under the junipers. Normally it wouldn't be an issue but the bees don't allow people to use the sidewalk without darting at them.

Answer: I visited this nice lady but didn't actually get to see any of the bees. From her description and looking at the tunnels they made it apppears these were actually Cicada Killer Wasps. They look and act so fierce, the males are aggressive but have no sting. The females have a stinger but very rarely sting, they are too busy reproducing.

To recognize them look for a Large wasp with red/orange coloring and yellow stripes around its body and yellow legs. They are very colorful. They paralyze Cicadas and us them as a food source for their developing young.
